1. Who We Are

Akrolearn is an e-learning platform operated by I-Akrotech Company Limited. We connect instructors and learners through online courses, certifications, and educational content. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our platform at akrolearn.iakrotech.com or any associated domain.

2. Data We Collect

• Account data: name, email address, phone number, role (student or instructor), profile photo, and password (stored as an encrypted hash).
• Course activity: courses purchased, lessons watched, quiz attempts, scores, completion status, and certificate records.
• Payment data: transaction amounts, dates, and Paystack transaction references. We do not store card numbers or mobile money PINs - all payment processing is handled by Paystack.
• Google OAuth data: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and Google account ID from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and session identifiers - used to secure your account and detect unusual activity.
• Uploaded content: course videos, PDFs, PowerPoint files, and profile images you upload to the platform.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your account and verify your identity.
• To deliver courses, track learning progress, and issue certificates of completion.
• To process payments and send receipts via our payment partner, Paystack.
• To send transactional emails such as OTP codes, email verification, purchase confirmations, and certificate notifications.
• To allow instructors to view aggregated student progress on their own courses.
• To enforce platform rules, detect fraud, and maintain security.
• To improve the platform through anonymised usage analytics.

4. Cookies & Session Data

We use cookies to maintain your login session, remember your device for new-device login checks, and store your language or currency preference. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent you from staying logged in.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Paystack - for payment processing (subject to Paystack's Privacy Policy).
• Google - only when you use Google Sign-In (subject to Google's Privacy Policy).
• Our hosting provider - Hostinger, for server infrastructure. Servers are located in the EU.
• Law enforcement - only when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

6. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we retain anonymised course completion and payment records for up to 7 years for financial and compliance purposes. Certificate records are retained indefinitely to allow certificate verification.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@akrolearn.iakrotech.com.

8. Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords (bcrypt), encrypted sessions, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) options to protect your data. Despite these measures, no internet transmission is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password and enable MFA.

9. Children's Privacy

Akrolearn is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us immediately.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering, logging in, or using any feature of Akrolearn (operated by I-Akrotech Company Limited), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. We reserve the right to update these terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. User Accounts

• You must provide accurate and complete information when registering.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
• Accounts are personal and non-transferable. Sharing account access is not permitted.
• Akrolearn reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Instructor Obligations

• Instructors must submit accurate profile information for review and approval before publishing courses.
• All course content must be original or properly licensed. You must own or have the rights to all content you upload.
• Course content must be accurate, legal, and not misleading. It must not contain offensive, hateful, or inappropriate material.
• Instructors are responsible for keeping course content up to date and responding to student queries in a timely manner.
• A platform commission of 15% is deducted from each course sale. The remaining amount is paid out to the instructor.
• Instructors must maintain an active monthly subscription to list courses on the platform.

4. Student Obligations

• Students must submit accurate profile information for review and approval.
• Course access is granted for the duration specified by the instructor at the time of purchase. Access is personal and non-transferable.
• Downloading, copying, redistributing, or reselling course materials is strictly prohibited.
• Students may retain quiz and certificate records after course access expires.
• Students must not engage in academic dishonesty, impersonation, or abuse of the platform.

5. Payments & Refunds

• All payments are processed securely through Paystack. By making a purchase, you agree to Paystack's payment terms.
• Course prices are set by instructors and may be in GHS (Ghana Cedis) or USD depending on your location.
• Coupons and discounts are applied at checkout and cannot be combined unless explicitly stated.
• Refunds are at the discretion of the instructor and Akrolearn platform policy. Contact support@akrolearn.iakrotech.com for refund requests within 7 days of purchase.
• Instructor subscription fees are non-refundable once the billing period has commenced.

6. Intellectual Property

All platform software, design, trademarks, and branding are the property of I-Akrotech Company Limited. Instructors retain ownership of their original course content but grant Akrolearn a licence to host, display, and deliver that content to enrolled students. Students receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to access purchased course content during the access period.

7. Certificates

Certificates of completion are issued upon successful course completion as defined by the instructor (e.g. passing a final assessment). Certificates include a unique verification ID. Akrolearn does not guarantee that certificates will be recognised by any external body, employer, or institution. The authenticity of any certificate can be verified at https://akrolearn.iakrotech.com/verify-certificate.

8. Prohibited Conduct

• Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or another user's account.
• Uploading malware, spam, or any harmful content.
• Harassing, threatening, or abusing other users or staff.
• Using the platform to promote illegal activities or violate any applicable law.
• Scraping, reverse-engineering, or creating derivative works from platform content without permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

Akrolearn and I-Akrotech Company Limited are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. The platform is provided "as is" and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana.
